新田 その
1999年女子美術大学工芸科卒業後、スウェーデンへ留学しテキスタイルアート・デザインを学ぶ。帰国後はアパレルメーカー勤務、女子美術大学工芸学科助手を経て、本格的に作家活動を開始。現在は福岡にアトリエを構え、羊毛や和紙、糸などの自然素材を用い、植物の個性やあり方を感じながら、空間に静かに息づくテキスタイルオブジェを制作している。
自然の中で植物が風に揺れるのを眺めるとき、私たちは考えることを手放し、ただそこに在ることができる。作品もまた、そんなふうに、ありのままの自分を思い出すスイッチでありたい。
植物の持つ美しさや優しさ、力強さ、そして素材が持つ温もりを通して、日々にそっと寄り添い、心静かな時間を共に紡いでいける作品を生み出していきたい。私たちのそばにある小さな自然に、心を寄せるきっかけになればと願っている。
Sono Nitta
After graduating from the Department of Crafts at Joshibi University of Art and Design in 1999, I moved to Sweden to study textile art and design. After returning to Japan, I worked for an apparel company and later served as an assistant in the Department of Crafts at Joshibi University of Art and Design, before beginning my career as a full-time artist. Now based in Fukuoka, I create textile objects using natural materials such as wool, washi paper, and thread. Sensing the individuality and character of each plant, I create works that quietly come alive within a space.
When we watch plants swaying in the wind amidst nature, we let go of our thoughts and can simply savor just 'being' there. I wish for my works to be a switch that helps us remember our true, authentic selves.
Through the beauty, gentleness, and strength of plants, and the warmth of the materials, I hope to create works that softly intertwine with daily life and weave moments of inner peace together. I also hope they serve as a gentle reminder to open our hearts to the small, everyday nature that is always by our side.
